However, robots are just one example of Artificial Intelligence (AI) – the study and development of machines that can copy human intelligence. Nowadays, Al has been applied to various areas of life.

At home, devices such as vacuum cleaners can now use AI to measure the room size and recognise any furniture. They can then decide on the most effective way to clean the house.

In transport, AI can be used on many smartphones to collect information about traffic. This can then help drivers find the most suitable route. Travelling has become much more convenient thanks to AI.

At work, the uses of AI are even more useful and exciting. Computer programmes, such as AI software or chatbots, can help customers plan their holidays, book flights and hotels, and answer questions.

AI is one of the most important inventions of the 21st century. It has completely changed our daily work and life.

                                                   LOOPY Laundry!

The washing machine is an important and popular invention all over the world. You can find one in most homes and lots of people can't live without it. But did you know that the washing machine is actually very old?

Jacob Christian Schäffer invented his first washing machine in Germany in 1767. In 1782, Henry Sidgier built a washing machine in Britain. These designs were made out of wood and had handles that turned clothes round and round.

In the 1800s, inventors took the idea to the next level. The inventions in this period became very strange. There were fantastic machines, like the wooden washing machine of American inventor William Clark's in 1871, for people on the go. This washing machine had huge wheels like a cart and people could use horses to take it with them while they traveled. Another fun design was Sarah Sewell's washing machine in 1885. Sarah hated chores, just like the rest of us, and decided to combine childcare and laundry together. She built a special wooden washing machine with a large seesaw, so when her children played, they would power the machine!

The first electric washing machines arrived in the early 1900s. One of them was Thor by Alva J. Fisher in 1908. Later, in the 1930's, inventors created the first automatic washing machines. These machines looked like the washing machines that we have in our homes today.

1. Inventors made the first washing machines in Europe.

2. William Clark made his washing machine in 1885.

3. Sarah Sewell's design used playground equipment.

4. Automatic washing machine design hasn't changed much.

WANT IT? PRINT IT!
The wheel on your little brother's favourite toy car has broken, and he's very upset. You're not worried, though. You just take some pictures, load them into your 3D printer and in short time, the new part is sitting in your hand.
3D printers are machines that print objects. Believe it or not, the first 3D printer was invented way back in 1984, and in 1993, the first 3D printing company was set up! Since 2004,3D printers have reached a price and size that allows almost anybody to own one, and in 2018, over half a million were sold.
3D printers work in a similar way to the old computer printer, which shot tiny jets of ink onto paper to make words. Instead of ink, however,3D printers shoot plastic, metal, wax or another material that hardens instantly. By adding thousands of layers, the 3D shape is slowly made.
People are using their 3D printers to make any object you can imagine, from jewellery to beautiful ornaments. Sports companies are using them to make boots and trainers that perfectly fit athletes' feet. But 3D printers can have a more serious use-one that might save your lifel Doctors are using them to create medical implants. for example bones and joints that exactly match the patients. This makes surgery easier and recovery faster.
3D printers are developing all the time, and are becoming the piece of technology every home should have. And soon, who knows-you might be able to print one yourself.

Every year, computer companies develop lots of amazing new inventions. Mobile devices especially, are very popular and important tools for people in the modem world.

Although tablets and smartphones are great, writing long messages on their small screens can be difficult. Now, there's an amazing new invention that turns surfaces into a full-sized keyboard and lets you 'type' on any table!

Laser keyboards send whatever you touch as information back to your smartphone and create your messages on your screen! It sounds like magic, but how does it work?

Now, no matter where you are, you can pull out this tiny device, type in comfort and pop it back into your pocket. No more big laptops, keyboards or computer bags. It even has a virtual mouse. You can click your fingers and feel just like you're in a science fiction film! Devices like laser keyboards are totally changing the way we use our technology. With so many amazing inventions, who knows what the future will bring!
