Giải thích: Câu hỏi ở thì quá khứ đơn nên trả lời cũng là động từ quá khứ đơn “recognised”, trong đó việc gặp anh ấy từ trước là việc đã làm trước một việc trong quá khứ nên chia quá khứ hoàn thành “’d met”

3. ‘Did your friends enjoy the theme park?' 'Yes, they did. It was their first time there -

they hadn’t visited it before.’

(‘Bạn bè của bạn có thích công viên giải trí không?’ 'Có chứ. Đây là lần đầu tiên họ đến đây - trước đây họ chưa từng đến thăm nó.”)

Giải thích: Chia câu hỏi ở thì quá khứ đơn vì có cụm “'Yes, they did”. Cụm “the first time” là dấu hiệu của thì hoàn thành, mà câu đang ở thì quá khứ nên chia QKHT “hadn’t visited”.

4. ‘My sister thought that Bond film was boring.'

     ‘Really? Had she seen it before?’

(‘Chị tôi nghĩ phim Bond thật nhàm chán.’

 'Thật vậy sao? Chị ấy đã nhìn xem nó trước đây chưa?”)

Giải thích: Chia động từ ở thì quá khứ đơn vì có từ “was” trong câu. Từ “before” là dấu hiệu của thì hoàn thành, mà câu đang ở thì quá khứ nên chia câu hỏi ở thì QKHT.

5. ‘What were you doing this time last year?’ ‘We were travelling across Germany on a school trip.'

(‘Vào thời điểm này năm ngoái bạn đang làm gì?’ ‘Chúng tôi đang đi du lịch khắp nước Đức trong một chuyến dã ngoại của trường.’)

Giải thích: Chia động từ ở thì quá khứ tiếp diễn vì có cụm “this time last year” trong câu. Câu trả lời cũng chia QKTD.

6. 'Tell me about the last time you went to the beach." 'It was brilliant - first I played football on the sand, then I swam in the sea for a while.'

('Hãy kể cho tôi nghe về lần cuối cùng bạn đi biển.''Thật tuyệt vời - đầu tiên tôi chơi bóng đá trên cát, sau đó tôi bơi trong biển một lúc.')

Giải thích: Có dấu hiệu ở thì quá khứ “the last time”, “was”… nên chia động từ ở thì QKĐ “played”, “swam”.

Seventeen-year-old student Tristin Budzyn-Barker and his parents were having (have) lunch at a restaurant in Los Angeles airport.

Tristin was eating when he saw a wallet on a table nearby. Tristin recognised the name inside the wallet. It belonged to famous Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The actor hadn’t realised that he ‘d left it on the table.

Tristin didn’t keep the wallet – he sent it to Chris Hemsworth's manager.

Some months later, Chris invited Tristin to an American TV show. Tristin and his parents were sitting in the audience when the presenter called Tristin on to the stage.

Tristin sat down next to Chris. The actor gave him all the money in the wallet because he ‘d been so honest earlier.
