Good morning class.
Today I'd like to talk to you about a famous English queen.
Queen Elizabeth the 1st.
She ruled at the time of Shakespeare and was one of England's greatest monarch.
Elizabeth was born in 1533 and came to the throne when she was only 20.
She served as queen from 1558 until her death in 1603. That's nearly half a century. She never married her grandfather, Henry, the seventh, was the first Tudor king.
Then her father, Henry the eighth, married his second wife and Berlin and Elizabeth was born.
Elizabeth continued to rule in the Tudor name, but her Scottish cousin Mary Stewart was not happy about.
This she believed the English throne was hers and tried to take it from Elizabeth, but she never managed to do it.
Instead, her son, James the 6th, became King of England when Elizabeth died in 1603. He was the first of the Scottish Stuart Kings to rule in England.
