My grandson by Fred Barker
Ollie is my only grandson. He’s twelve now and he doesn’t live far from me. He’s a friendly boy and after school, he often visits me at home. We spend a lot of time talking about different things: sport, cars, films and his day at school. Ollie studies for an hour or two every evening and he always gets good marks in class. But there’s one bad thing about Ollie: he spends too much time in front of a screen. I sometimes say, ‘Why are you on your phone when it’s a nice day outside?’ But maybe all these screens are normal for Ollie and his friends.
My grandfather by Ollie Barker
I like spending my time with my grandfather – he’s really nice. He lives alone in the next street and I see him most days after school. He sometimes helps with my homework – he’s very good at maths. He doesn’t work now, but he’s got a lot of hobbies. He listens to music and he enjoys doing sport – he runs every day. He’s very interested in photography and he lets me use his new camera. We’ve got very different ideas about one thing: phones! Sometimes, when I’m on my phone, he says, ‘Why don’t you play football in the park with your friend?’ Who know? Maybe he’s got the right idea!
