The librarian may know what the teacher needs. These could be items for the teacher's curriculum or DVDs that support their teaching. You can also give books or DVDs to the library or pay for a magazine subscription.
Lastly, remember that a cookie and a note go a long way. The best gifts for a teacher can be kind notes written by students and their parents. Many teachers keep every single one of them. Some teachers even pin thank-you notes to their bulletin board. They look at these thoughtful notes on bad days. They are wonderful things that remind teachers why they do the hard work that they do all year. Accompanying the note with a coffee mug is a good idea.
