Superlative (So sánh nhất)

We use the superlative to compare one person/thing with others in the same group.

• Short adjectives/adverbs: the + adjective/adverb-est (+ in/of)

(Tính từ/trạng từ ngắn: the + tính từ/trạng từ-est (+ in/of))

Tết is the biggest festival in Việt Nam.

(Tết là lễ hội lớn nhất ở Việt Nam.)

• Long adjectives/adverbs: the + most + adjective/adverb (+ in/of)

(Tính từ/trạng từ dài: the + Most + tính từ/trạng từ (+ in/of))

The fire dancer performed the most carefully of all street performers.

(Vũ công lửa biểu diễn cẩn thận nhất trong số các nghệ sĩ đường phố.)

• Irregular adjectives/adverbs: good/well - the best, bad/badly - the worst, much/many - the most, little - the least

(Tính từ/trạng từ bất quy tắc: good/well - the best, bad/badly - the worst, much/many - the most, little - the least)

She danced the best in the contest.

(Cô ấy nhảy giỏi nhất trong cuộc thi.)
